Today every webmaster is trying to handle the recent google panda updates in the best possible way and implementing the SEO strategies to cope with changing online ranking mode. Here we have discussed certain things you must ponder over while going to tackle with this issue.

1- Over Optimization Could Kill Your Site

Everyone in online marketing and SEO knows that Google is up to changing its algorithm again.  Similar to last year’s Panda/Farmer update that caused sweeping changes in SERPs for hundreds of thousands of sites, this year’s changes have the goal of cleaning up the Web in mind.  The predominant idea this time is that sites existing specifically for SEO will be easy to spot, due to over-optimization.  Once they have been identified by Google, either through the algorithmic changes or manual screenings, these sites can be penalized and sent further back in the search engine results.    

To many people, it doesn’t make sense:  how can a site be penalized for being too well prepared for indexing by Google and other search engines?  But that is precisely what is going on now.  

Since this is no longer a matter of “maybe it won’t happen to me,” and increasingly one of timing, knowing what it most likely to set Google off against your site will be very useful as you plan to correct the kinds of problems that typically signal over optimization.

2- Keywords and Exact Match URLS

When too many instances of certain keywords show up in your content, it looks as though the obvious goal of that writing is to influence the search engine rankings for that content. There have been many “magic ratios” of keywords to other content within

articles, designed to limit their numbers to a point that would call undue attention to the fact that keyword stuffing was actually taking place – but Google is onto it now, and the days of inconspicuous keyword stuffing are over.  

Exact match URLs and keywords containing them are also signals to Google that a site has been overly optimized with the intent of gaining higher rankings, rather than delivering useful and legitimate content to site viewers.

3- Link Network Red Flags

If you have too many links to your site that are reciprocal – meaning, the sites that are linking to you are all sites you also link back to – this will get your site examined more closely by Google.  

Link exchange, blogrolls, and other forms of “I’ll link to you if you link to me” are now getting some sites into trouble.  Instead of these, you should be going for the more natural links, the kind that can’t be bought or traded for, the kind that happen just because someone liked what was there on your site.

Until Google has finished re-evaluating its indexed sites based on these new criteria, it’s hard to predict with accuracy how far reaching the penalties are likely to be, or what to do to avoid them altogether.  

The best thing anyone can do right now it make sure that content is your focus, not keywords and anchor text.  The more natural your links are the better.   

And try to resist the impulse to go through all of your sites with a fine toothed comb and make sweeping changes that will attract unwanted attention.  Using these techniques, you will be able to weather the storm.

1 – Keyword Research

2 – Link Back To Yourself

Internal links to other pages of your site utilizing keyword anchor text is one of the basic elements of SEO. It is an easy way to boost traffic to other pages of your website and to also increase your internal page rank structure. Avoid excessive linking, you don’t want to annoy your visitors and to also get blacklisted as a spammer.

3 – Create Sitemaps

You should create two sitemaps, one HTML version for your human visitors and an XML sitemap for the robots. Sitemaps make it easier for your visitors both human and robots to find all your content.

4 – Create Friendly URLs

Make your URLs search engine friendly by using appropriate keywords in your URL strings. If you create a page about blue widgets, name the page blue-widgets.php (or whatever your page extension is)

5 – Avoid Flash

Although Google is getting a lot better at reading flash files, I still would not advise using it for your website navigation and/or as the main content area of your website.

6 – Use Alt Tags

The search engine spiders can only search text; not images or photos. Name your images using keywords using the “alt description” tag. Also be cognizant of the visually impaired visitors that may be visiting your website using a text reader. Use alt tags that are appropriate for your images.

7 – Content is King

The content on your website needs to be fresh, interesting and updated regularly so your human readers and the search engine spiders will come back. The easiest way to ensure that your site gets new content is to have an area on your site for a blog or news section. Then get members of your organization including the CEO to post new and interesting articles.

8 – Social Media

A blog is just one element of social media there are others such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube. You should utilize these social media platforms to link to appropriate areas of your website.

9 – Share the Love

An easy way to get back links to your website is to link out to other websites in your niche and establish link partners. Create an article about a particular product or service and exchange it with your link partner, posting their article on your website.

10 – Benchmark and Monitor Your Progress

You will not know if your efforts are paying off unless you monitor your progress, install Google Analytics.

In the book, Dale wrote that president Roosevelt was very popular. Extremly popular. And the key to his getting noticed and being so popular was the fact that he remembered the names of each person he came into contact with. Remarcable? Yes. And no. He didn't do this because he was a super-human. Don't think that he had the memory of an elephant. He simply exercized. A lot. With each name he heard. After meeting any one person or group of persons he closed himself in his office and shut his eyes. Then, he recalled the faces of those persons and to each face he attached a name. He repeated until he thought he got their names right.

You see? A simple excercise. Why doesn't everybody do it? Because they are too busy with only caring about their own selves. This is a great way to make people know about you. Simply remember things about them and then show them you remembered them. Everybody wants to be remembered. And you will have just won a new fan. A new person who will talk about you or even recommend you when need be.

Say I Exist, but also allow others to say I Exist..

Integrity. People know about this value. You know it too, right? You see it in people's LinkedIN profiles, on their facebook pages, their websites, their pitches...

But what do they know of integrity? They just use it to try and sell themselves, poor mediocre bastards. Integrity when you hear it is just like something those mediocre people would say to try and look good.

What about the people who actually value Integrity? Who live and breathe integrity? Well, those people you and I talk a lot about. Remember that business partner or that friend who said (did not even promise or give his best word) that he'd do something and really did it. He really did what he said he'd do. On time. Exactly as he said. Now remember how many times you've told others about his deed.

We talk about the people who deliver on their promises. Why? Because they are so very hard to come across. We're used to liars, to lazy people, to people who don't care about anything or anyone. So when we finally see someone who DOES what he/she SAIS, we're like "Oh my God! Unbelievable." So next time a subject related to that person strikes in a conversation you go like: "I know someone who..."

This is perhaps one of the best networking tools available in the world. I mean it's obvious. Maybe that's why it is ALWAYS over-looked. People will always recommend those who live and breathe integrity. Because they are always trust worthy. And we only want to recommend trust worthy people.

Find integrity. Other then inner peace, it will open doors in your quest to get noticed. The best doors.

A blind man was staying on the cold floor of a crowded street. The wind blew hard, careless for the things which lay on the ground. Including our poor blind man. Near him, the man had a hat with just one coin inside. In his hands, he held a sign which read: "I'm blind. Please help me with some money."

He could not see anyone. He could not see anything. And there was the cold of the street and the emptiness of sight. Cars raced through the streets and cab drivers cursed as loud as they could. And he was just a poor blind man who wanted to hear the cling of coins being tossed into his hat. But the footsteps of passers by kept going, seemingly not noticing the poor blind man.

Until one day, one man came to him and took his sign. The blind man was petrified. What could he do without his sign? But suddenly his sign was brought back to him. The man walked away.

Sounds of coins clinging, rushing past one another were heard near him and no, not near him. He knew they were all being tossed right into his hat. People did not ignore him anymore and gave him the money he was craving for so long. What did that misterious man do?

He took the sign and changed what was written on it. From "Help me with some money. I am blind." to "What a wonderful day! You can see it, I can not."

That was the whole magic. The magic of communicating directly to the souls of passers by.

Be a rockstar. In your own way.

In the world of today, everybody is making a lot of noise. There's a lot of noise everywhere, in every possible domain. And if there isn't much noise yet in one domain, you should expect noise to grow fast in just a few months.

So much noise makes things become boring. Really boring. And all the same. You have to stand out. Don't be boring. I may not really care about this, but you should. Being boring will affect YOUR life, the way you see the world, how much of the world you see. It will affect your career, your willingness to smile and be happy. Being boring is horrible and it's the one thing keeping you from greatness.

Go ahead an be a Rockstar! Who.. you? Yes, you! When you're a rockstar in your own domain and in your own way you will finally feel that your life is going places. It won't be simple. But it will be worth it.

The easiest way to become a rockstar is to find the things you Love and get noticed for doing them. Pursue the things you love and always say "I Exist!" while doing them. Let people know about you. About what your are doing. You won't go from today boring, tomorrow rockstar. But over some time you will. And you will start seeing that people want to listen to you. They will love to be influenced by you. You will gain relevance and break through all the noise.

Think of this: Mark Zuckerberg. Who is he? Many people still don't know, unless you tell them "He's the guy who made Facebook". reply is: "Oh, that guy. Yeah I know him now".

Getting noticed for being awesome at doing the things you love is the best way to become a rockstar. So go ahead, say "I Exist!". Be a rockstar.

Technology is evolving at an incredible pace. There's no stopping it, is there? 

TechCrunch published an article in the early 2011 saying that there will be 10 years of incredible startups and innovations in technology. Technological growth and globalization changes everything. It changes the way we think, the way we interact, our vision on the world and the generation gap. But it also changes education. There is need for new systems to replace the old ones, all because of the advancements in technology.

Those of you who've been following me for a while now, know how passionate I am about all things Tech and how much I like this evolution of things. Honestly, I can't wait for the Record Labels to fall in the pit, because they're being asses instead of progressing. Progress or die.

The question following is: "How further do we want to progress? What paths do we want to take?" I bet you've asked yourself this question. So what do you think about Nokia patenting a technology that will make your skin feel who calls you on your phone?

Wait! What? Oh yes, it's about a tattoo that people can place on their skin and when their phone calls they will feel WHO the caller is. Awesome? I don't think so. Would YOU like your skin to crawl every time some annoying person calls you?

My 4th speech was named: "About Dinosaurs, Creators and rights for Authors". Felt as if I really communicated the message and my body language was by far the best I'd used when speaking in public.

An abandoned building transformed into an office space

Many declining cities already have a consequent amount of underutilized and cheap real estate. These places could be transformed into shared office space, in order to create centers of innovation (similar to the Hub in San Francisco -acknowledging that SF is already a vibrant city, or Haarlem, Netherlands), which can inspire in the longer run locals to be more entrepreneurial and create their own companies. During the inspiration phase, many contributions pointed out examples of using empty building (in Seattle, New York, London and Bilbao, as well as Detroit). In Seattle, the project is a program of the City of Seattle, funded through multiple city departments along with various neighborhood groups, business improvement associations, and merchants’ associations.

"Incentive package" for the start-ups

-- Cheap real estate: The city can give away free or very cheap buildings.

-- Furniture: Steelcase could provide tables, chairs and other setup for offices (Thanks Ken) and common work facilities (kitchen, TechShop type of place, etc.) (Thanks Craig).

-- Other amenities such as affordable housing (Thanks Josh).

-- Funding: 

• For example, of you locate for at least a year, the city will invest in your company
• More investment would be allocated to start ups that hire local people (to help the city struggle less economically)

• For non-profit partners, corporate sponsors could underwrite the utilities to get these workspaces up and running, literally "empowering" a cause and their brand (ThanksCatherine).

Advantages for the city / the sponsor

-- Tax revenue that the city wouldn't be getting if the offices / buildings sit vacant.

-- Shares in the companies: In exchange for free rent, you could issue the city some kind of convertible shares in the company. If the company ends up doing well (i.e., it's the next Apple, Google, etc.) then the city reaps the upside and if not, then the shares aren't worth anything and the city did its best to try and seed innovation (Thanks Rob).

What a jolly Holidays Season this year brought to me!

I had some wonderful time with my loved one, friends and familly. Took a small break after months of being sleep deprived, to recharge my batteries. But I'm back in the game!

I wanted to dedicate this blog post to the wonderful year, 2011! It has been the best year yet for me. Later on, I will post some of the wonderful things that have happened during 2011, to better depict why it has been so great!

The situation was looking grimm when I had to write the Value Proposition of my startup. Does this sound weird?

Well it might, because you'd think "Wtf? don't you know what your startup has to offer?" I do know what it has to offer and I guess a lot of people, especially those with a technical background, find it hard to explain it very simple to non-technical consumers.

For me, the way I presented things was awesome! I mean, dude, smartsites! They're so freaking amazing. They are. But when I had to explain why, I've explained the technology, I've explained the features of the smartsites builder and not why consumers should care about it.

It's been a great thing to actually join the Fabrica de Antreprenori programme, because I started getting value from day 1.

I learned how valuable it is to keep focused on your goals and actually do that which you say you'll do and how not doing it, will get you into a state of chaos. In that state of chaos you will lose all focus, all your energy and the ability of the system to work.

I finally understood the basic concepts behind doing the finances for your company and what variables you need to change to actually get more money in.

It's been a great experience and I'd love to share more with you after the event is over and I will have won the business plan competition on Tuesday :)

How To Web 2011 was freaking awesome! Really glad I came to Bucharest for it. Had a great time and learnt quite a lot. Great speakers were present and it was good to get access to knowledge you can't find anywhere on the web. Yet.

I really didn't expect to get any value from the event and now I simply feel that I MUST come again next year. People from Google, the CSO of Adobe, venture capitalists, angels and many interesting people to start networking with.

Met a few friends, made some new ones, validated theories and learnt new awesome stuff. This was really great. And yes, Bogdan Iordache was right. HTW parties are really great!

Many people say such campaigns are not effective. And they are wrong, mostly. 

It all depends on how compeling you make the Contest message, the design of the Contest tab and how well your message reaches the audience. 

You will get subscribers to the page. That is the result. Then it's the job of your SM Manager to keep them tuned to your communications and make them engaged with the brand. 

I ran such contests for my startup and one for a webdesign company. And I managed to make them effective. People became engaged and it built Buzz. Due to this, it resulted in people testing my platform and promoting it. As for the webdesign, it resulted in people contacting them for certain services. 

If you think that you need BUZZ and want to dedicate effort to it, then yes. It's a must do!

I've just realised, while drinking a great coffee from my Cif2.net cup that this year has been kinda awesome. Regarding travels, anyway.

First stop was Oradea 2011. Then I was off to a great weekend break @ Sibiu 2011, followed by 2 awesome weeks at Sfantu Gheorghe, a night in Tulcea and the 2 days after-vacation party in Timisoara. I've been to the HammerFall concert in Targu Mures and I still have Pisa and Firenze in plan for November.

Working on a startup is a very consuming process. Yes, it is satisfying and awesome. But it is consuming. You're required every now and then to only live and breathe your own startup. The key to doing this is much consistency, passion and being in love with your startup. Then it's about organizing, prioritizing and others. But the number 1 thing that will get you a great #win is the ocasional BREAK.

Yes, you need to take a break every now and then, otherwise your productivity will go down-hill, along with your imagination and the ability to stick to the greater vision of your project. All of this because of much accumulated tiredness.

Take a break! A city break, sais I.

I've been focused on #devsummer so much lately that I've mostly only worked on cif2.net and nothing else. Of course, I blogged for customers, did Social Media Management and made some new designs. But I didn't go out as much. I had my fun, went for a jog every now and then with a great friend of mine. Hit the town a bit. But all-in-all I didn't do much else then work at cif2.net.

So I find myself today, tired and low on creativity and I can't wait for tomorrow to take my city break to Sibiu and Platinis.

I wanted to visit this city for a while now. I made a promise to a friend that if he gets a job in Sibiu I'll go visit. Turns out some other friends are also joining in. Woo-hoo! I never had time to visit the city, I was just in town for concerts (yes, Jethro Tull and Scorpions). See you tomorrow, Sibiu.

Near @Sibiu, is this beautiful place called Paltinis. Everybody sais it's awesome there and that I have to go visit, so that's what I'll do. Where's your favorite place to take a city break? 

I've tweeted earlier, that doing a 30 Day Challenge will not mean that you will get an Oscar or a Huge Award for the stuff you're planning to do for the next 30 days. But it will ensure that you become much more Organized and it will help you achieve Consistency.

And it is true. Ever since I've started my 30 Days Challenge, I've seen that stuff have started to go really well, even if I didn't believe it would, at first. But, the next 30 days are going to pass, no matter WHAT you do. So why not try improve something @yourself or just try out something you always wanted?

For me, it's getting rid of addiction to Coke and Pepsi, watching a TED every day, to improve my creativity and thinking and also delivering a new Cif of the Day everyday. Plus, get some workout. I may have a few days in which I don't do one of these. But I don't go to sleep until I do the others.

Try this out. Start with something small. See how it feels. See how your life and your behavior improves.

I currently find myself blogging about "How to Be Consistent?" on a customer's blog @work and I was thinking: dude, these tips are awesome. I have to really start living by this and finally become consistent. I mean, all the projects that I did manage to work at until the end have been succesful.

No matter what they were: educational software, computer games, historical documentaries, literature projects, marketing stuff, etc.

This is my 135th article for my Cif2 blog. I started it on the 29th of July last year and it's still on-going. Cool, I'll have to keep this one up for years to come :D

If you're working for customers online AND for your own startup and are very active, do research, etc. you will stop at one point and say: "What the F shell is going on?"

STOP. Yes, you will.

And will not understand anything for a while. Well if this happens, it's clear:

1) You don't have a Cif2

2) Maybe you have one, but just don't use it right.

I've personally made a MyShack cif2, where I keep up with all the stuff I read, my Tea recipes (which are awesome, btw) and lately with my Web Places. I have accounts and stuff in so many parts all over the web, that it's killing me because I never know what I have where. And I also can't remember all those places.

So right now I'm storing them on My Shack. And it gives me peace of mind.

Ok, so after attending How To Web Cluj and listening to all those presentations about mobiles and mobile apps, I've decided: Let's have more MOBILE-ity in cif2.net.

So this morning along with Calin Vingan we worked on making cif2.net blogs to work awesome on mobile platforms. And it does. It loads fast, it doesn't show the cif2.net bar and it doesn't display the right bar.

Because you'd get some valuable help if you do it right and it will help you and your team focus on the more important things and on what you are good at.

Is there such a title in the series ? Dunno, but what I do know is: Fiverr.com is a great place to look for outsourcing.

I don't really trust the fiverr clones, but I have used fiverr a lot these last two months and I have to tell you: It works and it rocks ! They have some good buyer protection, so even if you wind up with the wrong gig, you'll get your $5 back.

Let's think deep for a little.

If you need help, for example, with Usability Tests, how would you outsource it ? Go to utest.com ? They charge a whole lot of money. Last I checked it was $99 / per user testing the usability of your website. 

Or usertesting.com ? I've heard they're great, but they charge $39 per user.

The answer is Fiverr

On fiverr, you get some really good people with experience in the domain, testing the usability of your website and providing you with some very good and valuable reviews for .. wait for it.. $5. Yup, it's legendary !

Of course, there are some spammy gigs around, but I found real value there and some great users. You can talk to them before paying for the gig, to check out if you like them. Some are very professional.

Get testimonials, social media ads, usability reviews, media contacts emails, SEO, backlinks, songs about how awesome your project is, logos, videos, ads, etc.

You can say hello to me while at it!

Windows 8 will have a very interesting interface, which resembles the awesome interface used in Windows Mobile 7. Normal computers will finally have apps.

The charge can last up to 20-30 minutes - depending on the brightness of the UV light and the darkness of the room. Typically, charge will hold well for 1-5 minutes then slowly fade, and you can always "erase" the writing by waving the light back and forth then start over!

Wordpress as you may know wants to be a leading blog-building platform.

It doesn't have anything REAL to offer, just some basic stuff which you can't really customize without having to get tons o' money out of your pockets and frankly it's a miserable experience.

Blogspot is a way better idea and also Posterous.

May take some time => but done right, it bring Results ! Big results, otherwise you only waste time writing stuff you never get to use, because you forget about them.

Word has been circulating for weeks now that Twitterwas soon to be swooping up the popular third-party app, TweetDeck. In early May, Mike Arrington reported that the deal was as good as done, but the two companies were not yet willing to publicly release the numbers. Today, CNN and CNET broke the news that TweetDeck has been acquired by Twitter for $40 million. Twitter has yet to officially confirm, but judging by what we’re hearing from sources close to the deal, it’s done and done.

As you may remember, the story of TweetDeck’s acquisition has changed a bit since February, as reports indicated at that point that TweetDeck was on the verge of being acquired by Bill Gross’ UberMedia — the price speculated at between $25 and $30 million. And, as it seems, Twitter was having none of that. They apparently rushed in with a counteroffer — an offer now proved to be on that TweetDeck couldn’t refuse. It seems that Twitter just wasn’t comfortable with allowing UberMedia to snatch another chunk of market share. After all, Twitter can’t just go allowing Twitter-related startups and products to fall into the hands of those companies that aren’t Twitter. Just ask UberTwitter and EchoFon, for example. As Mike reported in early May, sources close to Twitter revealed that an UberMedia acquisition would give them too much leverage over Twitter, and so the bidding war (or really, non-war) was on.

This is one of the biggest problems nowadays, since FB did that little trick at the end of March 2011, when they took out the Suggest Page to Friends functionality and changed it with something bogus.

Well, dear friends, i have experimented a brand new method of getting fans today. And it works. I won't brag too much, but this thing I discovered resembles my old idea of AFF Net and I was so happy when I found out that someone made something like it. Especially that they've made it very easy for the model to work.

Being the CBO of cif2.net, which is currently just a small startup with a huge vision for changing user experience on the Internet and reaching web 3.0, is a really tough job sometimes, because I have to struggle with our very incredibly small funds, which we make ourselves from our other project developed in Romania and called Cifnet. We can not re-route all the resources we make with that project into this, because it is a very serious project with more then 10.000 clients. But the extra that we make, we send to our little cif2.net.

And there is a responsability to all this, because the idea is great and we have to work a lot to develop it, while also being fully commited to Cifnet and it's clients. But when things seem to go South, what do you do ? Hope for the End of the World in 21st of May 2011 ? Nope, you search for various new opportunities which will fit in the very tight schedule and budget you have available.

So let me tell you, dear friends: the Internet is a gold mine of information and development potential. You just have to make your research and then you may tap into it, 100% and get your results.

Web 3.0 is an unshaped concept. It's a dream, but like any dream, it needs people to dream it. And people to find the key to unlock that door.

So how do you find the people? How do you find that key? Let's consider for a moment that we don't find the key. The key and mostly the ideea, finds us. We just receive it and have to make use of it, spread it, make it awesome ! This a story of things that lead to other things, some greater then others. This is a story of reaching Web 3.0.

[ Introduction - How do you get to the idea of Web 3.0 ? ]

It all started from an urge of making website builders awesome. Me and my associates, were having much success with a website builder, called Cifnet, which Calin Vingan (current CEO of cif2.net) built back in 2007. It was a great CMS platform that was used by over 10.000 people in Romania. Most of our clients were businesses. But of course, tech has evolved very much from 2007, and by 2010 we felt like we wanted to improve that platform and go to something bigger. Something different. Something that... Yes, you're right. We did not have a clear idea. And, in my opinion, that's the beauty of it.

We built and built, trying to give a new angle, a new spin to Website Builders. So we worked hard, because we felt that we were onto something, we knew that we were going to reach something awesome. The platform we were developing caught a very interesting shape and it included up-to-date tech, with all sorts of intuitive editing possibilities. It was great for a Web 2.0 web app.

That's when I got the idea that hey! Much can be achieved through Web 2.0. Let's make Rennaisance 2.0. I worked on that idea, feeling that it was the future and that it could bring great benefits to people's lives.

I presented my idea at a Toastmaster's event and people responded well to it. They found it interesting. But there was this journalist, Mihai Gotiu who was like: "Yes, nice, but there's already talk of 3.0. So why focus on Renaissance 2.0 ? Do 3.0 ! It's the future".

Well I will admit that I was all like: "What's this guy talking about ? There is no definition for Web 3.0. Just some oppinions as to what it might be somewhen in the future. Is he crazy ? I mean, there is Marketing 3.0, which is still not very much known, but 3.0 .. really now ?"

Yup, but deep down in my soul I knew that was a challenge for me. So: Challenge Accepted ! Great. Now I was in a very dim place, because everything was so unclear. 3.0, what is 3.0 ? Is it anything like Marketing 3.0 ?

I didn't know exactly what to expect from this unclear Tech concept. But I knew in an instant that for it to happen, I had to push technology further. But let's see some basics, let's see some of the ideas that go around about Web 3.0. Shall we ?

[ Web 3.0 - An attempt to define it ]

It's hard to say what the definition for Web 3.0 is. That's why this will be an attempt at defining it. Many others have tried to find this "Holly Grail" of the Internet, but so far, there isn't a stable definition.

Some people believe that Web 3.0's most important features are the Semantic Web and the personalization of the web. Conrad Wolfram has argued that Web 3.0 is where "the computer is generating new information", rather than humans.

There are some other ideas, such as the fact that Web 3.0 will be when humans will be "plugged to the Internet" from the cradle and unto the grave. Others consider the Semantic Web to be a whole new Web 4.0.

" According to some Internet experts Web 3.0 will allow the user to sit back and let the Internet do all of the work for them. Rather than having search engines gear towards your keywords, the search engines will gear towards the user. Keywords will be searched based on your culture, region, and jargon. For example, when going on a vacation you have to do separate searches for your airline ticket, your hotel reservations, and your car rental. With Web 3.0 you will be able to do all of this in one simple search. The search engine will present the results in a comparative and easily navigated way to the user. "

Now, let us "digest" these a little bit. If you think of Tim Berners-Lee's idea and the example given in the paragraph taken from Wikipedia, doesn't it make your mind go to Mint ? Yes, the startup that began spreading like wild fire, because it knows how to search data about your accounts, wallets, spendings, the budgets you want to use for certain activities, in a very Smart (pun intended) way. Basically, it does the whole sorting part for you, making your life easier when it comes to paying bills and checking your spendings.

The idea of Semantic Web is all very nice, but it will probably not be 93% succesful ever. You would need a whole team of profilers working with entrepreneurs and tech-heads. Ok, this is just an oppinion, so let's just take John Smart's idea and place the Semantic Web in the field of Web 4.0.

Great ! Now back to Web 3.0. Wait. First, let's take a walk through Web 1.0, Web 2.0 and Marketing 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0. You don't just call numbers because that's what you wanna do. There has to be a corellation between them. So let's analyze these in parallel.

Web 1.0 was the basic website. You got to a website, had an awfully hard time getting products into a shopping cart and then buying, end of story. Or, you had to watch photos of products, download catalogues and then write an email to the owner with the names of the products you wanted. There was only the website. You had no real say, just observed.

Marketing 1.0 cared about selling products. Selling many products. And that was it. It was a product-oriented kind of marketing. There was just the product. And it had to be bought.

You see? Both are 1.0. Both are oriented on products, not on the people who buy them. Customers had to get those products, so even if something was not completely right with them, they still got the products and that's that. These two may not have been in the same time period, but they did act the same way. We are not talking about right-on chronological timeline, we are talking about the relation between Web X.0 and Marketing X.0.

Then, the world changed. There were a whole lot of products available for the clients. Clients could buy this or that. They could go to this website or to the other website, what did they care ? They had freedom to choose from a whole lot of different options.

Thus, came 2.0, both in marketing and in Web. The marketing became client-oriented. The client had to be pleased about the products and the way they were treated by the companies. Clients began talking between them and now it had a direct impact on sales. On the Web, people found out the same thing after a while. Now they had a voice. They could leave feedback on forums, online shops, blogs, social media, etc.

People began having a voice in 2.0. Well, snap ! Companies needed one too, or just needed to help them exercise that voice. Brands were created. Social Media was created. Sweet.

But it did not stop, of course. People became even smarter and started finding out all sorts of things about everything that was happening in the world. Marketing 2.0 was done to make a difference between those who were 2.0 and those who weren't. But most became 2.0 after a while. So what could make a Brand different from another now ? The things that consumers learned about those brands. The things they started to find out about those brands. Like if a brand helped Japan after a tsunami or not. If they helped develop the educational sector in Africa. If they actually gave something back to men kind. Yeah. People started caring about stuff. So, companies climbed to Marketing 3.0 and began doing all sorts of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Campaigns.

What did they get from this Marketing 3.0 and from the fact that Corporations showed they cared about the world ? They got a "soul" in the vision of the clients. Yes, that's right. Companies started having a soul. Marketing 3.0 gives them a soul.

So what about Web 2.0 ? What did the web do ? Why did it not climb up to Web 3.0, yet ?

I mean, Social Media is awesome. But it's still 2.0. It's just humans interacting with humans, through machines, websites, whatever you want to call them. Humans do mostly everything (I think everything) manually (when not using Twitter Spam-Bots, but I am refering to real interaction, not spamming activities and mal-practices). So it's Consumer 2 Consumer, Business 2 Consumer and Business 2 Business (yes, 2 is for just 2 sides that are involved in the process and it's a 2.0 thing). Everything made until now is 2.0. Well, mostly everything, because some tech has already started to mutate.

Web 3.0 will be when the Web will begin having a Soul, just like it happened with Companies and Brands in Marketing 3.0. It will be when the Web will start interacting with the users.

Wow ! Yup, but more on that in a short moment.

[ Pushing Technology Further ]

Remember how I said that technology needs to be pushed further on ? I assure you that this idea had not first occured to me whatsoever.

It occured to the first guys who decided: "Hey ! We have computers and advanced computing systems. Let's make telephones Smart !" and the enthusiasts who said: "Yeah, that might be something, I guess". It was. You have a dumb phone in your left hand and a smart phone in your right. You look at each of them, compare, but are still attracted to the smartphone and not only because it's a shiny iPhone 4 or something. It's because you became attached to it, in the way that you feel you need the telephone more then just to send SMS and call people. Even more then to have contacts on it, or to write a small, limited shopping list. You need it to help organize your life, your daily activities. You don't want to sign in to all sorts of email websites every time to see if there's a new mail for you. You want your phone to push it to you, to have your telephone tell you: Dude, you've got mail !

And that's not even half of it. The phone can tell you stuff related to your Facebook and Twitter accounts, messages you receive there, whatever. You take notes in the "clouds", which you can access later on from your laptop. You can unlock the door to your house over Mobile Internet. You can have your dear beer-cannon throw you a beer in bed, through your smartphone. Nice, right ? Telephones know to do stuff right now. 

As I've said earlier, they know what's up with your bank accounts and can alert you if they "think" something suspicious has been going on in your bank accounts.

The "platform" for telephones to become Smart was built. Smartphones were invented, people started using them and they saw that it was good. New entrepreneurs came and made them even more awesome. The guys who made Lokitron (the one with locking/unlocking your door through mobile internet), or the one with the beer cannon app, or the Founder of Mint, the startup with the bank accounts. And I am certain that even more great apps will come, to make phones even Smart-er.

So you see? These guys pushed technology further, for mobile phones, and got to something awesome, which we all love these days !

But phones were definetly not the only things which could become Smart. And Google proved that, by launching GoogleTV. They've made TV sets Smart. Yup, not only phones are smart anymore. Television sets have also gone smart.

Making television smart. That was an interesting idea. I found it really amazing. And then, like a 300kW of raging electrical current, it struck me ! Dude, what was I thinking ? Wait.. what was I not thinking ? Check this out.

I was consumed with making websites from a different angle, making them more awesome, somehow. That's exactly what the first guys who made smartphones tried to do, too. That's what the GoogleTV guys wanted to do, too. Now it all made sense.

Finally it made sense. We were actually building Smart Sites. And it does make sense. I mean, websites are the heart of the Internet. You can't have Internet without websites. So why not make Websites become Smart ?

It was easy for us to take that step. Because all that time, we were actually building the very foundation for Smart Websites, we just didn't know exactly what it would turn into, that's all.

[ Smart Sites - What are they ? What can they do ? ]

Smart sites are websites gone awesome. They are different from normal websites in many ways. Old websites, such as old telephones or dumb phones, as I prefer to call them, can't " tell " you anything. You have to go searching for all sorts of data and information manually.

You could do some of the things you can do on your Smartphone on your old Dumbphone. It's just that it would take you a lot more time to do it, because you'd have to do every operation by yourself, with no help from the machine whatsoever.

The same with websites. Old websites were just there. You had to figure out absolutely everything and your website was just that place you had, but didn't really feel too close to, like you did to your smartphone.

Here's where Smart Sites come into play. A smartsite has personality. This is a feature that we are going to develop even further. Your website has a "soul", it exists there on the internet and it evolves with each thing going on: like you get more links to it, more visitor check it out, you post new blog articles, you get Apps, etc. It levels up and depending on it's level, it tells you what you need to improve, what you should pay more attention to, etc. It grows with your every action and dependent upon it. It slowly turns into an entity you're gonna love.

You can have your friends over on your smartsite. And to be really smart, your Cif (that's how we call smartsites made with our platform, cif2.net) sorts your friends and the people you follow, showing you first the people with the most activity in the past few weeks, so that in the front, you'll always have those people who are actually relevant to you. You don't need to see the smartsites that had no activity in a very long while. When you need to get to those, you can always just skim through your friends list. You need to see something of value to you, something that helps you.

Smartsites know things about other smartsites and they can show it to you. You can see your friends' smartsites and check out what they've been up to, who they follow or friend, what level their smartsite is, to know how good they're doing and you can also see their recent activity. Soon, more interaction methods between smartsites will be made available.

They provide you with sets of tasks, which they display to you, depending on their level. The tasks they give you to perform will help you understand what needs to be done with your smartsite in order to get results. Because you need results, whether you're a blogger, an artist or a company.

So you see ? It takes the info that is being stored in our database about your website and it sorts everything out, so that it can provide you with valuable information. It takes some of that information and it shows you that it is evolving very well and has more chances at getting results, so that you know you're headed in the right direction. It takes some other data stored in the database and it displays your friends, sorts them so that you see those who are relevant first and it tells you what you want to know about them, their friends, their recent activity, etc. And you never have to wonder about what would make your website even better, because you have tasks. What your smartsite does is it guides you, helps you develop it and turn it into something great. This is a unique experience, which you can't get from the old kind of websites.

There will also be a developer's platform available, so that other smartsite enthusiasts can build their own apps and turn smartsites into something even Smart-er !

[ Through Smartsites, we reach Web 3.0 ]

This is the begining of Web 3.0. We are talking about all the definitions of Web 3.0 which do not include Semantic Web (even though it might get to that eventually, but let's leave that one to Web 4.0 for now).

Good. Now let's rewind a bit.

Our smartsites already "talk" to one another, exchanging information. They already are "inteligent agents". Of course, there is room for development, which we can hardly wait to do.

And now, the definition I gave for Web 3.0, as a parallel to the 3.0 development in Marketing. "Web 3.0 will be when the Web will begin having a Soul".

I have written that smartsites simply evolve, they grow, they tell you things, they do some thinking on your behalf. They may be just a part of the Internet, but they are alive, even in the current under-developed state. With more apps to come, we may get to something major. They develop a soul, just like brands did in Marketing 3.0. Be certain that your Cif will be different from one of your friend's Cifs. And as smartsites and the cif2.net platform will be developed, it will come to pass that no two smartsites can fully, nor trully be alike.

Web 3.0 will not be about machines taking control, but it will be about half-human input, half-machine input. Needless to say, this means Smart technologies. This means smartsites, smartphones, smart TVs.

If you consider this carefully, we already reached Web 3.0. A little more developing and we will actually be inside the Web 3.0 Era.

Again, think back a little, to what I wrote on the 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0. Here are some sketches to illustrate these concepts.

A little explanation for the Marketing 2.0 drawing: consumers interacted with other consumers, but in that case, the brand had no say, it had no input. But when it started having a "soul" in Marketing 3.0, it began sending it's input into the consumers' conversations, it was no longer something distant. Brand makes education in a poor country much better, you don't care any longer that you heard something bad about the brand, because you KNOW the brand and what it stands for and it kind of tells you "I would never do that". And you believe it.

Now about the drawings with the Web. You see, in the last one with 3.0, there is input from 3 sides. Two human sides and one computer side which talks in it's own way with both human parties of the Web. The web's becoming alive and it's turning 3.0. It's starting to have its own voice. It interacts with the two human parties.

Gentlemen and most wonderful ladies, you are standing on the edge of a whole new ocean of 3.0. Just on the edge. Do you feel the breeze? So revigorating. PLUNGE IN! ... Experience the future.

Yup, that's right. 2 days ago I got this idea of how to get people to see cif2.net and I realised: dude, the website isn't 100% ready for visitors, because I still have sections without content.

So startup guy said: Blast ! I want this done today. And in one night, get everything going, so that visitors will have all the info they need to start their awesome Smart Sites in http://www.cif2.net .

It was a 24 Hour Marathon, after which I slept only 1 hour, then went to the U.

But that night was awesome ! Just me, pizza, inspiration and Smart Sites.

A very good question indeed, considering all the changes which took place in the world of Social Media Marketing.

2010 was a good year, in which Social Media grew even further and to be 100% honest, I would say that it had a really big blast. Consider Foursquare's 1 000 000 new users in one month milestone ! That was a feature.

But, it's not just that Social Networks grew a lot and were happily adopted by many new users. No. They came to know a new wave of spammers and automated content, which was irrelevant to the people who actually loved the Social Media. Those very pesky methods of spam-marketing made the whole Social Media more reluctant. Some networks actually fell because about 83% of the content was automated. Yes, I am talking about Buzz. Much of what was on Google's Buzz was just automated, bot-generated content. And this pissed people off.

So which are the biggest networks on which you "market" on the Social Media ? Why, Facebook and Twitter, of course. Twitter, after a little bit of image change, yup the Twitter bird, and the new interface hasn't really made any rash changes just to fight off spam. On Twitter it is very easy to avoid spam if you don't want spam. The only changes in Twitter Marketing, were maybe the Early Bird and the Promoted TTs. But that's about it and it's about 2 new tools which help companies.

Facebook, on the other hand has made a whole lot of annoying changes in it's system, especially in March 2011, starting with a few basic mods, to some really serious (and crappy) ones. If you've been into FB marketing from 2009 or even before, you kinda feel right now that Facebook just isn't Facebook anymore. It's a silly little thing which seeks to please everyone and no one.

Companies can no longer have a personal profile. Yes, that makes sense, doesn't it ? People used it because you could add friends, thus spreading your brand further. But people considered it spam. Of course, back then, there was always the possibility to suggest your Page to friends. Now the Invite Friends to Page is just a mere shadow of it's former glory. People don't really see those Suggested Pages anymore, because they are made very lame and invisible.

So, because of these changes, it is very hard to get people to Like your Page or just to have them find out about it. They may have taken all these measures to make Facebook Marketing a lot more difficult, to better please the basic users and to make sure companies will have to use Facebook ads, if they really want to do any marketing on Facebook.

I see a year 2011, in which companies will have to involve even more effort and time, in order to get results with Social Media Marketing.

Am inceput astazi sa scriu un studiu legat de ideea de X-Factor Marketing, pentru online marketing.

Abia astept sa scriu mai multe. Ce va pot spune este ca ideea e destul de buna sau cel putin poate duce la niste idei interesante de dezvoltare. Dar in orice caz, nu se aplica pentru majoritatea modelelor de business.

Abia astept sa il lansam oficial :D

Exista o metoda de marketing care se pare ca da rezultate de fiecare data, chiar daca de multe ori ne ferim de ea: Email Marketing.

Atunci cand reusesti sa transmiti un mesaj interesant si de folos, oamenilor nu le mai pasa sa urle nervosi: "spam". Va spun din experienta ca am aflat prin aceasta metoda de foarte multe site-uri interesante, e un canal util de informare.

Nu consider spam un email cu desavarsire util si/sau informativ.

Cei de la Facebook au stricat multe in ultima vreme, asa ca se poate face apel la alte tehnici de promovare a paginii de Facebook si a evenimentelor firmei.

Oamenii care au citit deja emailul au raspuns pozitiv, dupa cum se poate observa in cresterea fanbase-ului nostru.

Vreau sa multumesc acestor oameni deschisi la minte.

Acestea din urma raman tot mai in urma si incep sa-si piarda "sufletul".

Dupa desemnarea site-ului de suflet, se va pune la dispozitia publicului un jurnal de dezvoltare, in care se va putea urmari progresul acestuia si cum va deveni treptat primul Website Smart din Romania. Publicul va alege si modul in care acesta va arata, din variantele de design propuse.

Buna dimineata, dragi prieteni !

Pregatim un eveniment super fain si speram sa-l lansam puternic inainte de Paste.

Veti avea ocazia sa va sprijiniti comunitatea si oamenii dragi sau sa castigati cate ceva pentru voi.

Pana atunci, insa hai sa vedeam putin ce mai face prietenul nostru Cipri in dimineata aceasta. Btw... il stiti pe Cipri, nu ?

Este foarte fain Twitter-ul, oricat de relativ putin e folosit in Romania, pentru ca poti afla despre tot felul de evenimente si conferinte interesante (printre multe altele).

O astfel de conferinta care mi-a captat atentia a fost Conferinta de lansare a Retelei RSC aici in Nord-Vest.

Am fost foarte curiosi sa vedem despre ce e vorba la eveniment si ce oportunitati de colaborare putem descoperi prin acest eveniment, asa ca am mers sa vad despre ce e vorba. Cred ca marea mea greseala a fost sa am asteptari. Mi-am dus inclusiv o agenda in care sa-mi notez idei interesante, si de ce nu, niste metode de implementare, pe care speram sa le prind de la speakerii invitati la conferinta.

Viata mi-a aratat de multe ori ca nu merita sa ai asteptari. E o lectie pe care inca nu am invatat-o, pentru ca iubesc ceea ce fac si atunci vreau mereu mai mult si mai mult.
